Target group
Graduates with a professionally relevant Bachelor’s degree course in Art History, Media Studies, Visual Studies, Cultural Studies or proof of a comparable certificate of academic degree obtained in Germany or abroad.
Graduates with a Bachelor’s degree course in Art, Design, Social Sciences or History must provide proof of having completed at least 24 CP in modules or courses related to Visual Media.
The Examination Board may combine the admission with the condition that additional modules of a maximum of 12 credit points must be obtained. In this case, the study period may be extended accordingly.

In cooperation with the German Documentation Centre for Art History (DDK) and the Bildarchiv Foto Marburg, we offer you a unique combination of art history, media studies and archival research.
During your studies, you will delve deeply into the theory and practice of photography and learn how to apply scientific methods to photography as a medium of art, communication and memory. You will gain in-depth insights into current research areas and will be able to put this knowledge into practice.
