Target group
Bachelor graduates whose degrees include the following skills:
- Know and apply basic concepts of German literary studies in the fields of older German literature and modern German literature
- An overview of the history of German literature
- Know and apply different forms of presentation and mediation of literature and its analysis
- Know and apply literary genres and genre-theoretical questions
- Differentiation and problematisation of literary theories and methods.
The determination of competences is made by the Examination Board.
Annotation
The name says it all: literary texts are at the heart of this degree course. The diversity of German-language literature is explored from a cultural studies perspective. Literary texts are examined and explored using different approaches from media studies and cultural theory. The relationship between literature, visual media, film and theatrical performance is also examined.
Our seminars explore the following topics, among others:
• Literary depiction of violence
• Colonial spaces in German-language literature
• Giving and exchanging in pre-modern literature
• Relationships between genres and gender
• Incest as a topic of narrative texts
• Contemporary family novels and films
• Death, dying and mortality in literary and religious texts
Admission requirements
Degree that includes the following skills:
