Das Studienfach fördert kreatives und analytisches Denken wie medienübergreifende und experimentelle Arbeitsweisen und zeichnet sich durch die Verknüpfung von künstlerischer Praxis, Kunstwissenschaft, Medienästhetik, Kunstpädagogik und -didaktik aus.
Die Kunstpraxis lebt von der Arbeit im Atelier. Die Kunstwissenschaft setzt sich mit Geschichte und Theorie künstlerischen Schaffens auseinander. Die Kunstdidaktik verbindet diese Erfahrungen mit ihren Konzepten und der Umsetzung in der Schule.
