The annual conference of the Association of German-Japanese Societies took place at the Japan-German Center Berlin.
The annual conference of the Association of German-Japanese Societies (VDJG) took place at the Japan-German Center Berlin (JDZB), where I completed an internship two years ago. The VDJG serves as the central umbrella organization for German-Japanese societies across Germany, including the German-Japanese Society Frankfurt (Deutsch-Japanische Gesellschaft e.V. Frankfurt am Main).
During the conference, the German-Japanese societies exchanged ideas on topics including member recruitment, intergenerational cooperation, digitalization, and many other issues. In addition, new elections were held for both the Association’s Executive Board and the Board of the Foundation.
At the JDZB, the exhibition “WA! Germany – DIE EXPO ZU GAST IN DEUTSCHLAND” is currently being held, featuring exhibits brought from Osaka Expo 2025 held in Japan. I especially enjoyed interactive games designed to teach visitors about the circular economy and sustainability with circular.
On Friday evening, we were kindly invited to a reception at the Embassy of Japan in Berlin by Her Excellency Mitsuko Shino, Ambassador of Japan to Germany. A wonderful selection of Japanese cuisine was served at the buffet, and the sushi was exceptionally delicious.
The photo above shows me at the Embassy reception with Her Excellency Mitsuko Shino, delegates and accompanying persons who traveled together from Frankfurt, as well as Mr. Gerhard Wiesheu, the newly elected President of the VDJG.
I am very grateful for the opportunity to network and for the kind invitation from the Embassy of Japan in Berlin.
